Wolves boss Stale delays decision on Frimpong

Wolverhampton Wanderers boss Stale Solbakken wants to be convinced about the fitness of Arsenal’s Emmanuel Frimpong before he makes a move to sign him in January.

Frimpong, 20, is still on the road to recovery from an anterior cruciate ligament tear that ruled him out for seven months and has not played with the Gunners’ reserves for the past three games.

He moved to the Molineux on loan last season but was forced to return to Arsenal after he ruptured his knee.

Wolves boss Solbakken is contemplating on a January move for him.

“The situation is he wants to come to us,” said Solbakken in the Express and Star. “But at the moment, he’s coming back from the injury he got here.

“He has another small injury now and he hasn’t played in Arsenal reserves’ last two or three games.

Solbakken added: “Frimpong can be a possibility for us in January when things might look differently.

Last week, the hard-tackling midfielder was reported to be on his way out of the Emirates Stadium after Arsenal refused him a new contract.

But he squashed the reports by revealing he is yet to fully recover and claimed he would go on loan.
