Prez. Has Been Conspiring With Certain EC Officers To Rig The Election – NPP

The New Patriotic Party has accused the President, H.E. John Dramani Mahama, of colluding with certain electoral commission officers to rig the 2012 Presidential and Parliamentary elections.

The party’s Chairman, Jake Obetsebi Lamptey made the allegations at a press briefing in Accra on Sunday.

According to him, “the situation if allowed to go unchallenged will seriously damage the essence of the electoral process and largely undermine our process. Substantial discrepancies have been discovered from results at collation centers when compared with the official tally figures from the EC.”

He noted that “considering the closeness of the polls, this era is actually very significant and goes to the heart of the credibility of the results being declared.”

Speaking a day after polls closed for the elections, the Party Chairman said “the connivance of the EC officials is most “worrying” and has thus called on the Chairman of the EC to desist from releasing any election results until all the necessary investigations have been concluded.

“We demand that the EC conduct an audit of the collated figures as well as the count from the biometric verification machines before the electoral results are finally released. The votes cast for the Presidential at the presidential level are far higher than the vote cast for parliamentary candidates.”

“It was this planned systematic stealing of votes at the collation level that was thankfully discovered in time at the Dome Kwabenya constituency that where substantial amounts of some 15,000 votes was being illegally added to the total votes cast in favour of John Mahama.”

“Also in Savalugu constituency, John Mahama of the NDC received 21,165 according to the EC at the collation center. However, in fact there was a falsification to give him 31,165 and have area declared for him.”

According to Mr, Obetsebi Lamptey, “you will also notice in the Korley Clottey constituency that there was a disparity between the presidential and the parliamentary with an additional 10,00 votes being cast in the presidential that were cast in the parliamentary.”

“We have the blue sheet to support these blatant acts of rape of the democratic mandate of the people of Ghana… unfortunately, the discovery of these criminal acts is done only after the collated results are declared at the constituency.”

Jake Obetsebi Lamptey further requested for an “immediate meeting” with the Electoral Commission to resolve the discrepancies and anomalies it has observed.

He pointed out that the party was privy to “extensive evidence” to back its claims and to prove that their candidate, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo had won the 2012 election.

“We have enough concrete evidence to show that the 2012 elections has been won by our candidate Nana Akufo-Addo.”

Jake Obetsebi Lamptey called on the people of Ghana to “remain calm and wait for a proper audit of the results before the declaration.”
