Johannesburg – Six men were arrested while trying to rob a filling station in Polokwane on Sunday, Limpopo police said.
“During their arrest police found three fully loaded unlicensed 9mm firearms, balaclavas and other apparel used for business and house robberies,” Brigadier Hangwani Mulaudzi said.
The suspects from Shoshanguve, Gauteng, were spotted acting suspiciously at one of the city’s busiest filling stations and police were called. The men tried to flee in two cars, but police cornered them.
In another incident, two Zimbabweans were arrested in Makhado over the weekend, also while trying to rob a filling station. The men ran away, but were caught a few kilometres from the scene. Police found an unlicensed 9mm pistol and a rifle in their possession.
