Nasarawa gov to return to PDP

By Henry Umoru

ABUJA—STRONG indications emerged, yesterday, at the National Secretariat of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, that arrangements were under way for Governor Tanko Al-makura of Nasarawa State to dump Congress for Progress Change, CPC and return back to his former party, PDP.

National Chairman of PDP, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur, was told, yesterday, that the governor will return to the party once the crisis bedevilling the party in state was resolved.

Speaking, yesterday, during a visit to the national leadership of PDP, leader of a faction of PDP in Nasarawa State, Dr. James Angbazo, who noted that Governor Al-makura still remains a member of PDP at heart, said he was only bidding his time to return to the party because of what he termed the crisis rocking the Nasarawa State PDP.

It will recalled that Al-Makura was forced to dumped PDP last year after he was schemed out of the governorship primaries.

He pitched tent with CPC on which platform he won the 2011 governorship election.

Meanwhile, the former governor of the state and a current Senator representing Nasarawa West, Senator Abdullahi Adamu, who was part of the delegation, told Tukur and other members of National Working Committee, NWC, that PDP lost to CPC during the 2011 gubernatorial election because of the poor performance of his successor, Akwe Doma, who took over from him in 2007.
