Goalkeeper McCarthy thankful for Hearts return

Goalkeeper Philemon McCarthy has credited his return to Hearts of Oak to the coaches at his former club, Gomoa Fetteh Feyernoord.

The 28-year-old who left Hearts following a massive dip in form is yet to concede on his return to the Phobian camp for the second round of the league.

But in expressing his delight at his u-turn to Hearts, McCarthy reserved special thanks to coaches of his former club who helped him to regain his confidence.

“When my form dipped I went back to my former club (Feyenoord) especially coach Sam Arday and other people who helped me to get back to the basis and thankfully I am back at Hearts,” he told GHANAsoccernet.com.

“I have been here before so I am very happy and hopefully I can help Hearts win something this season.”

McCarthy’s decline resulted in him losing his position with the senior national team and hopes his return and performances so far helps in regaining the not the no.2 slot but the lead role with the Black Stars.

“Sure I am a Ghanaian. I will be very much elated if I get a call back to the Black Stars,” he added.

“I will be working hard so eventually I get the chance in the national team again and hopefully I can make a case of becoming the number one goalkeeper.”
