Egypt: Interior Ministry Denies MP’s Shooting

Egypt’s Ministry of Interior has denied the news that Member of Parliament (MP) Hassan Al-Brince, deputy of Egypt’s parliamentary Health Committee, was shot on the Alexandria-Cairo road.

The Middle East News Agency reported that the MP was injured in a car crash.

The state news agency’s report did not include any mention of gunshot, as reported earlier by Al-Jazeera. The report stated however that security rushed into the scene after Al-Brince’s car crashed into a truck causing his injury. The MP was then transferred to a hospital.

Al-Jazeera had reported that according to his brother, Al-Brince is now in stable condition.
