CSKA Moscow ace Ahmed Musa has told MTNFootball.com his biggest 20th birthday gift would be qualification for next year’s AFCON on Saturday.
The flying winger will turn 20 on October 14, a day after the Super Eagles decisive qualifier against Liberia in Calabar.
“I will be 20 on Sunday, a day after our match with Liberia. I want the Nations Cup ticket as my birthday present from the Eagles,” said Ahmed Musa, who has yet to appear at a Nations Cup final tournament.
“I don’t think there could be any gift I will get for my birthday that would be better appreciated than the Nations Cup ticket.”
The former VVV Venlo of Holland star is most likely to start from the bench against the visiting Lone Star with Chelsea ace Victor Moses preferred to start from the right wing, just as was the case in the first game in Monrovia early last month.
Saturday’s showdown will also see him come face-to-face with his close friend and CSKA teammate Sekou Oliseh, who he refers to as a brother.
“Sekou is a good and dangerous player, he showed that in the first leg and scored his team’s equaliser. He is my very good friend, in fact he is my brother,” he told MTNFootball.com
“But this time around we will be enemies on pitch while the game is on because AFCON 2013 is important to me, my nation and career.
“I will plot the downfall of Oliseh and his country in Calabar by giving my best, so that after breaking his heart in the game, we will come back to be friends again. It is going to be an explosive game which I see us winning very well.”
This season the goals have been coming for the former Kano Pillars star in Russia in a new role as top striker, but he has insisted he would be willing to play any role assigned to him by coach Stephen Keshi to ensure victory and qualification on Saturday.
“I have been playing as top man for CSKA this term and it is paying off. I can do so for Eagles if the coach pleases, but I have also done well for Nigeria and CSKA as a winger as well,” he told MTNFootball.com
“I am ready to see that we beat Liberia from any position the coach wants me to play.”
