The new Emir of Kano, Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi II, on Friday turbaned Malam Sa’ad Shehu Gidado who replaced Sheik Nasir Muhammad Nasir, as the new Waziri of Kano.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Gidado replaced Sheik Nasir Muhammad Nasir, whose appointment by the late emir, Alhaji Ado Bayero, on June 6, was rejected by the State Government and his appointment cancelled by the emirate council seven days after it was made and two days before the death of Bayero.
During the ceremony, Sanusi called on the new Waziri to discharge his duties with utmost fear of God, work diligently to move Kano Emirate forward and also justify the confidence reposed in him by providing meaningful advice, which would assist in ensuring justice and fairness to all.
Sanusi who explained that the title was based on merit charged Gidado to cooperate with other council members so that he will be able to discharge his duties effectively.
In his response, Gidado pledged to work with justice and fairness to enable the emirate move forward.
He called on all to support and cooperate with him in the discharge of his duties.
He however thanked the Emir for giving him the opportunity to serve the emirate.
Following the death of Ado Bayero, the former Emir of Kano, Sanusi was chosen as the new Emir.
On Friday, June 13, the new Emir proceeded to his palace with a huge crowd following him.
