The sporting director of Napoli Riccardo Bigon was billed to meet Olympique Marseille yesterday to make an offer for Ghanaian talisman Andre Ayew.
The Italian Serie A side were bent on signing Ayew during the winter transfer window but an injury halted the move as Ayew was sidelined for three months.
Napoli manager Rafael Benitez is a keen admirer of the Ghana international after grabbing a double against his side in a 3-2 Uefa Champions League game in Italy.
Ayew, who could be the next captain of Marseille, has a year left on his contract.
