8f65135713185 911160 My Heart Bleeds For NPP …Kwadwo Mpiani Cries OutMr. Kwadwo Mpiani, the former Chief of Staff under the administration of ex-President John Agyekum Kufuor of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has revealed that, the recent scuffle and disunity in the party makes his heart bleed.

He said the recent confusion that erupted at the headquarters of the party when National Executive Committee members were holding a meeting is in indication that the party has a long way to go in its quest to wrestle political power from the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) in 2016.

Speaking in an interview with the media, Mr. Mpiani revealed how a chaotic scene was created at the party headquarters during the NEC Meeting.

He said some NPP faithful thronged the party headquarters in the course of the meeting and were banging on the door to let them in, threatening to lynch those at the meeting.

He said the NPP is now a matured political party after its formation in 1992 and wondered why such behavior could be exhibited at a NEC meeting.

“In fact, my heart bleeds for this party for what I saw at the party headquarters over the weekend and it is important that a solution is immediately found to salvage the party from losing another elections in 2016,” he said.

He said, the administration of Mr. Paul Afoko and Kwabena Agyapong is still young and it is important that, they are given time to implement whatever good plans they have for the party.

The Former Chief of Staff, has also described as ‘palpable false’ claims that he and some leading members of the NPP are plotting to ensure that party’s 2012 presidential candidate, Nana Akufo-Addo loses the 2016 elections should he be elected flagbearer.

The plan dubbed Agenda 2020 is said to be the brainchild of some loyalist of flagbearer aspirant Alan Kyerematen including party Chairman, Paul Afoko, General Secretary, Kwabena Agyapong and former President Kufuor.

According to media reports, they would ensure the NPP loses the 2016 elections to enable them present their preferred candidate in the person of Alan Kyerematen to lead the party in the 2020 general elections.

Both the National Chairman and General Secretary have vehemently denied such allegation and called on party members to treat it with the contempt it deserves.

In support, Kwadwo Mpiani said, the party must move beyond such trivialities and focus on winning power in 2016.

According to him, his greatest wish is to see the NPP back in power would not work towards its defeats in 2016.

“How many years do I have to live on earth to hatch such a plan? Do I know what will happen before 2020? He quizzed.

Obviously unhappy about the seeming division in the party, the former Chief of Staff said he is saddened about the internal bickering in the party.

The former Chief of Staff indicated that, one would have thought the NPP would be united in purpose for a landslide victory in 2016 “instead of fighting one another over nothing.”

Espousing what he described as genuine unity to bring all hands on deck for victory in 2016, Mr. Mpiani emphasized the need for party members to campaign in a way that places the party’s interest above individual interest.
