Explaining how the dialysis centre works, the head of the centre, Mrs Irene Allotey Jacobs, said there were patients who could not afford one session of the dialysis which cost GH¢150.

“If the person cannot afford, it means that person will go home and die”, adding that some of the patients were as young as 17 years.

After the tour, Mr Addo met some members of staff who presented their challenges to him. Some of the staff raised issues of encroachment on the hospital’s land, water shortage, absence of a mothers’ hostels and regular supply of electricity.

At the meeting, Mr Addo expressed satisfaction with the progress of development at the hospital.

He expressed his delight that the hospital had become a complete teaching hospital, saying that it was a challenge to the staff and management of the hospital to go the extra mile in the performance of their duties.
