Military Man Guns Down 29yr Old Man
Story from Albert Nana Asante, Obuasi
The family of the 29 year-old man who was gunned down by an unknown military man engaged by the Anglo Gold Ashanti, Obuasi mine, at the weekend, have appealed to the Inspector General of Police (IGP) to intervene in unraveling the exact cause of the death of their beloved one.
Master Osman Yahaya is alleged to have entered the premises of Anglo Gold Ashanti with a colleague to steal electric cables when he met his untimely death.
The body of the deceased has since been deposited at the Obuasi Government Hospital.
The Obuasi Divisional Police Commander, ACP Dwumfour Berchie, who briefed The Chronicle on the incident, said a private security man employed by the mining company who was stationed at the company’s power station alerted the military men about the presence of the two.
He added that one managed to escape, leaving Master Osman to his fate.
ACP Berchie added that the suspect succeeded in injuring one of the military men when they (military men) attempted to arrest him (suspect).
He continued that the suspect, after injuring one of the military men, took to his heels, but was shot at close range, resulting in his death.
But, the family of the deceased suspect the police have been economical in telling the truth behind the death of Master Osman.
Madam Akua Afoah, 50, a relative of the deceased in an interview, alleged that Mr. Osman was attacked because he was spotted wearing a military uniform (short).
