Madrid Masters 1000: Novak Djokovic withdraws

Seeded No. 2 Masters 1000 Madrid, Novak Djokovic does not tread the red surface of the courts of Madrid. Due, the winner of the 2011 edition has withdrawn. The Serbian is victim of persistent wrist pain.

“I’m really sorry for the tournament in Madrid and all Spanish fans, but I have to turn down the Madrid tournament”, said the world number two in a statement.

Novak Djokovic is going to take weeks to heal and make his return to competition “in Rome.”
