Kwesi Appiah Satisfied With Ghana Performance Against Zambia
Ghana coach James Kwesi Appiah has expressed satisfaction with his side’s performance in their 2-1 win over Zambia in the 2014 World Cup qualifier on Friday in Kumasi.
The Black Stars became the fourth side on the continent to seal their place in the final stages of the qualifiers with Spartak Moscow forward Abdul Majeed Waris netting the first goal at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in the 19th minute before Kwadwo Asamoah grabbed his fifth Ghana goal with a 25 yard effort.
Zambia needed the maximum points at stake to topple Ghana from the summit of Group D but the AFCON giants established their dominance over the South Africans to get closer to appearing in Brazil.
And, coach Kwesi Appiah feels his side put up a satisfactory performance regarding the huge pressure and expectations from home fans.
‘I think the performance was not that bad considering all the pressure was on Ghana and talking of the Zambians they had nothing to lose because we were leading them by a point and they were playing away,’ he said after the game.
Ghana will face a last test in a double-legged encounter before sealing their place to make their third consecutive World Cup appearance.
