Kwasi Appiah Dropped Kwarasey, Not Me – GK’s Trainer Nassamu Explains

576f563742421 197276 Kwasi Appiah Dropped Kwarasey, Not Me GKs Trainer Nassamu ExplainsBlack Stars goalkeepers trainer Naasamu Yakubu has explained the background leading to the axing of Stromgodgset goalkeeper Adam Kwarasey from Ghana’s squad to face Uganda and Togo in the Afcon 2015 qualifiers next month.

The squad for the double header was released last Wednesday with the Black Stars technical bench opting of Chippa United’s Fatau Dauda, Aduana Stars’ Stephen Adams and Cordoba’s Razak Braimah with the Stromgodset skipper missing out.

Kwarasey looks to have paid the price for questioning the competence of Black Stars goalkeepers’ trainer Nassam Yakubu following the World Cup in Brazil.

The shot-stopper lashed out at Yakubu in an interview with Norwegian newspaper Verdens Gang hinting that he would not be part of the Black Stars set-up if the goalkeepers’ trainer is not changed.

But the goalkeepers trainer has said he selected Kwarasey into his four goalkeepers submitted to the head coach only to see the 25 year old dropped from the list.

“I gave out my list, I shortlisted four goalkeepers and he has not been called and so I don’t know” Naasamu told Kumasi-based Angel FM

“Oh yes, he was part of the four shortlisted, because when we were going to the World Cup we shortlisted four goalkeepers and he was picked”,

“Fine, the utterances he made if it had been you may be the FA, somebody says if the FA doesn’t change me he will not come and the FA hasn’t changed so it means he cannot”, He added.

An inactive Fatau Dauda was the preferred choice for Yakubu during the World Cup which seemed not to have gone down well with the Stromsgodset captain.

Kwarasey played in the match against the USA before Dauda took over the post in the subsequent matches against Germany and Portugal.
