Kwaku Bonsam Quizzes: Why Blame “Dwarfs” When Ghanaians Have No Respect For The Cedi?

Famed Ghanaian spiritualist and the head of the “Kofi Kofi” shrine, Nana Kwaku Bonsam has said the free-falling of the local currency (cedi) should rather be blamed on Ghanaians not spiritualists.

According to him, Ghanaians have no respect for their own currency and have rather grown a strong affinity for the US dollar.

“Why do we trade in dollars even though we are in Ghana? That fact is we don’t respect our cedi…everyone is talking about dollars. You can’t go to America and trade with the cedi. We mishandle the cedi…roughly folding up into our pockets. There is no spirit behind our cedi…it’s our own behaviour that is causing the depreciation of the currency.

“…Lets appreciate our cedi. We the spiritualists have done nothing wrong…do not accuse us,” he warned.

Kwaku Bonsam was reacting to the National Women’s Organizer of the incumbent National Democratic Congress (NDC), Anita De Soso’s claims that witch doctors also known as “Juju men” used dwarfs to steal Ghana’s currencies from the banks and other financial institutions. This she said inadvertently affects the cedi stability.

“Do we know where they get the money from? Do we know what they do with it? These dwarfs…the black magic, is what has made the Cedi lose value,” De Soso said

Many have described the Deputy National Coordinator of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) remarks as “strange” diagnostics of the depreciation of the cedi that has forced the Bank of Ghana (BoG) to issue a number of stringent directives to stabilize the local currency which has fallen sharply against all the major foreign currencies.

Speaking on Adom FM, Nana Kwaku Bonsam also known for commanding dwarfs admitted that, monies from their conjuring tricks are indeed from dwarfs but stressed that that cannot be said to be the cause of the fall of the cedi.

“To me the gods bring those monies…the dwarfs do as well. I don’t know where they get them from…all I know is that the money will appear. I have never asked any of my gods where they get those currencies from,” he said.
