Kwadwo Asamoah has told his Black Stars colleagues to avoid talking about past records when they lined up to face Egypt in a crucial World Cup playoffs on Tuesday.
The Ghanaians will host the first leg against the record African champions in Kumasi on October 15.
Close to 90% of the Black Stars players will start training on Tuesday after arriving in the country.
The massive talk in the Ghanaian media has centered on the quality of the Egyptan side who have a relative good record against their host.
Ghana have played Egypt 18 times in category A matches which includes international friendlies and competitive matches.
The Black Stars have won five of those encounters with Egypt winning three more and five matches ending in a draw.
But the Juventus ace wants his teammates to focus on the current team and not be bothered with the past records involving the two teams.
“The future is now. The past is gone and so we must look forward to the upcoming game,” Asamoah said
“We should not over-stretch the quality of the Egyptian team. Of course they have good players but we also have equally fine players.
“We must focus on our current team and work towards achieving our target of reaching Brazil 2014.
“We must give off over 100% and I’m confident we shall survive their threat.”
