Kotoko Crowned Champions

Asante Kotoko were officially crowned the 2013/14 Premier League champions despite failing to honour their 5-0 prediction over perennial rivals, Hearts of Oak, at the Baba Yara Stadium yesterday.

The game was characterised by the usual steam associated with ‘Super Clashes’ despite the home side claiming the premier league title with two games to spare.

Both teams were presented with decent chances to get on the scoring sheet but lack of bite in their attack left the game barren.

The vociferous Hearts of Oak fans at the stadium were seen in jubilant mood, while fans of Kotoko were seen overwhelmed in gloomy mood despite Kotoko winning the league title.

Kotoko, having won the title for the third successive time, were presented with the giant First Capital Plus Bank League (FCPBL) trophy at the end of proceedings.

Playing at home with their supporters behind them, Kotoko started piling pressure to unsettle Hearts but the visitors resorted to wild tackles to keep Kotoko away from their goal area.
