Kogi Govt Inaugurates Committee On SURE-P

The Kogi Government on Friday inaugurated a 20-member committee to implement the Subsidy Re-investment and Empowerment Programme (SURE-P) in the state.

The Deputy Gov. Mr Yomi Awoniyi, who is the Chairman, inaugurated the committee in Lokoja with a charge for it to protect the people’s welfare.

According to a statement issued by his Press Secretary, Mr Michael Abu, Awoniyi said the committee was an intervention measure aimed at mitigating the hardship faced by indigenes of the state.

He tasked the committee to work toward improving the lives of the people by maintaining good communication with the populace on the activities of the SURE-P.

While advising the committee to measure its performance and accomplishments by creating social safety nets for the people and not to deny their benefits.

Awoniyi expressed displeasure over the arbitrary and exploitative pricing of petroleum products in the state, and warned that enforcement of the approved prices would soon commence.

He appealed to marketers to operate their businesses with human feelings, as government was working toward addressing the issues of poor supply of petroleum products from the NNPC.

Responding on behalf of his colleagues, Mr John Alabi, promised to offer selfless, sincere and transparent service.

Alabi thanked the government for the opportunity given to them to serve, and solicited for support from all stakeholders. (NAN)
