The Chief Executive of Kingdom Lifestyle Mission, an educational Non Governmental Organization NGO has revealed its intention to support street children in the country by extending help to them in the form of education.
Kingdom Lifestyle Mission according to him is seeking to go beyond just assisting the educational needs of the youth, but also provide shelter and support to the homeless children in Ghana.
Pastor Alex Gyasi made the revelation in an interaction with the press after visiting one of the mission’s project sites at the Jesus Care Preparatory School at Bantuma, Elmina in the Central Region.
According to him the move has become necessary following the successful response to its project in Elmina four weeks after its inception.
Prior to the press interaction the NGO had interacted with beneficiaries of the project in the area to assess the programme and also to solicit their support in making the project a successful one.
Majority of the parents present lauded the initiative and urged the NGO to ensure it replicates such noble initiatives in other deprived communities in the region.
Pastor Gyasi said it was in line with that objective that they have began processes to meet with the officials of Takoradi Polytechnics to see how best to extend the initiative to Takoradi.
He says Kingdom Life Style Mission seeks to partner with corporate institutions, media house and churches to give pupils especially, but also secondary level students, the opportunity of relearning subjects they are thought in class through supplementary classes on weekends.
Already, Kingdom Lifestyle Mission has been holding Saturday classes for pupils at Madina free of charge with support from volunteers from tertiary institutions since 2012.
More than 200 children from Madina and its environs have benefitted from the assistance of Kingdom Lifestyle Mission.
There are currently about ten volunteers from the University of Cape Coast assisting with the Elmina Project by taking the children from Bantuma Elmina for free classes on Saturdays.
