Keyboardist Sita plays for Becca
There was a thrilling music component to the 2013 Miss Malaika final event at the National Theatre last Saturday with performances from Efya, Raquel, Eazzy and Becca.
When Becca came on, the only instrumentalist in her backing band visible on stage and introduced to the audience by the singer was keyboardist, Sita Korley.
She is the regular keyboardist for the Dzesi all-female band and the only active female keyboardist on the popular music front here.
Originally a classically trained pianist, Sita has stretched her wings to master many other styles of music.
She is always a strong soloist but also knows how to stay competently in the groove to complement any kind of lead voice.
Becca’s manager, Kiki Banson called her to be part of the Daa Ke Daa singer’s backing group for the Miss Malaika gig.
‘As a member of Dzesi, we have played on the same stage with Becca on a few occasions but the Miss Malaika programme was the first time I featured with her backing band. It was a lot of fun rehearsing and playing the actual gig with her,’ says Sita who is also a student at the Methodist University in Accra.
‘Becca is a beautiful, hard-working sister and I know I have the relevant knowledge and experience to contribute something useful to her sound,’ Sita added.
She indicated that she would not mind working together again with Becca whenever her schedules make that possible.
