Keeper’s wrath: George Owu assaults journalist


George Owu, goalkeeper for Sekondi Hasaacas has reportedly attacked on a Sports journalist by name Kwame Yeboah

Hasaacas on Sunday defeated Dwarfs by a goal to nil at the Essipong Sports Stadium, but the man who ensured the away team were denied a goal is alleged to have slapped a journalist.

According to the Sky Power fm presenter, George Owu confronted him during the post-match interview of the Hasaacas-Dwarfs game and asked him why he propagated negative agenda against him.

While attempting to render an explanation, the former Kotoko goalkeeper delivered a slap across Yeboah’s face.

“Owu approached me and asked why I always pass defamatory remarks about him, so I decided to reply him, but he slapped me.” Yeboah said to Metro FM.

“His palm is very big, coupled with the fact that he was in his hand gloves, so I really felt the pain. I have reported the matter to the police and I hope the right thing would be done to apprehend him.”

George Owu, who earlier said he had no knowledge of such an incident later admitted he confronted Kwame Yeboah to ask him some questions, but there were no case of assault as claimed by the journalist.

“I asked him why he usually plots negative things against me, but I didn’t assault him as he is claiming.” Owu said

George Owu was part of the Black Stars team that made it to their maiden World Cup in 2006.
