K’dua Zabarama Community Gets New Chief
From Isaac Akwetey-Okunor, Koforidua
The newly enstooled Seriki Samari of the New Juaben Municipality in the Eastern Region, Abbas Alfari has appealed to Zongo youth to demonstrate a high level of respect to dispel the notion that the youth in Zongo communities are disrespectful.
According to Seriki Samari, youth from Zongo communites in the country have suffered many setbacks in the form of economic opportunities. To him, the time to change that negative identity to their advantage was now, and the youth must cultivate a new life rooted in hard work and adherence to societal norms and values.
He also charged them to change the tag of ‘violence’ on them, since every Zongo community is perceived to be a violent prone area. He further urged them to show respect to all leaders in their various communities, including non-Muslims in the country.
Abass Alfari was speaking at a ceremony to enstool him as the new Seriki Samari for the Zabarama community in the New Juaben Municipality recently. It was attended by people from all walks of life, including politicians, non-Muslims and other very important people within and outside the municipality.
The Zabarama chief further urged the Zongo communities to unite and work together for the common development of their respective communities.
He also charged Muslim parents to take the education of their children serious and stop spending on frivolous matters.
