Jerry Akaminko Makes First Return Since 2013 Africa Cup Of Nations
Turkey-based defender Jerry Akaminko has been called up for Ghana’s crucial World Cup playoff first leg against Egypt this month.
The Eskisehirspor centre-back will be making a return to the Black Stars for the first since playing at the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations.
It was speculated that his eight months absence so as a result of the penalty he caused against DR Congo during a Group stage match.
But Akaminko seems to have profited from the injury to Evian TG defender Jonathan Mensah.
The 25-year-old has featured in all six matches for his side in the Turkish Super Lig and played full throttle.
Akaminko is versatile and can play as a right and that could have played convinced head coach Kwesi Appiah.
