It Is Good To Live A Life Of Dedicated Service To Your Community—N/R Minister
The Northern Regional Minster Mr Bede Ziedeng has said that is good everybody lives a life of dedicated and committed service to his community.
He said this during a tribute at the final funeral of the late Mr Raymond Abudulai Bakari who was popularly called RA took place at Bole on Sunday 20th October 2013.
According to the Minister, the late RA was very instrumental in taking critical decisions for Bole in politics and other fields.
He said the late RA who was a revenue collector in his early year’s transverse the length and breadth of the Bole District in order to make revenue for the district which under the decentralization policy constituted a very important component of the survival of any district Assembly Mr Bede said the late RA who was the father of NDC in Bole-Bamboi devoted a considerable part of his life towards his party.
He said the late RA was a founding member of the party in the Bole-Bamboi constituency and was one of the thirteen (13) signatories at the formation of the party in Northern Region hence a high powered government and party delegation to the funeral.
In a tribute read by on behalf of the children of the late RA, RA Abdul-Jalil said their father was well known in politics in the Damongo and Bole areas. He said their father had a very rich political history having been a staunch member of the Progress Party (PP) and ably assisted the then candidate of the party to win the seat. Abdul-Jalil said their father was also a kin pin of the Popular Front Party (PFP) in the Damongo and Bole areas and during the fourth Republic became one of the founding fathers of the NDC party in Bole.
The children said their father was socially very approachable, accommodating, tolerant and that these good attributes kept his name on the tongue of all and sundry.
Abdul-Jalil said their father was also a crops alivestock famer and therefore kept cattle and small ruminants and also cultivated cashew, maize, groundnuts among others.
At the advent of the Fourth Republic the late RA became a founding member of National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Bole area. He was one of the brains and architects in the formation of the party in both the Bole-Bamboi and Sawla- Tuna-Kalba constituencies in 1992 and became the organiser of the party from 1992 to 2008. The late RA was the campaign coordinator and chief strategist for President Mahama in the NDC parliamentary primaries and the general elections of 1996.
Indeed when the political history of the Bole-Bamboi constituency and for that matter Ghana is written, the name of RA will occupy a very important place. RA was a very successful politician who groomed and nurtured politicians and today, they occupy responsible positions in Ghana and some of these politicians are the current Member of Parliament (MP) for Bole-Bamboi Hon Alhaji Akati Saaka and His Excellency President John Dramani Mahama.
The funeral saw one of the biggest gathering of people from Bole and across the country.In attendance at the funeral were: The Northern Regional Minister, Bede Ziedeng, the Upper West Regional Minister, Dr Ephraim Aveah Nsoh, the Chief Executive officer of SADA, Alhaji Gilbert Iddi, a former Regional Minister of Upper West, Mr Khalid Mahmoud, the Regional Chairman of NDC for Northern Region, Sofo Azorka, the Regional Chairman of NDC for Upper West, Alhaji Issahaku Malik, the National Chief Farmer, Alhaji Ahassan Agartha, Peter Mahama, and Adam Mahama, businessmen and brothers of President Mahama, seven Municipal and District Chief Executives, about 30 Chiefs from Gonjaland etc.
