Ghana attacker David Accam has expressed delight at his opener for Helsingborg in their 3-0 win over Öster but insists his prime aim is to help the Reds reclaim the Swedish title.
The 22-year-old ended his five-goal drought on Monday night by converting an Álvaro Santos lay-off after Emil Krafth’s display of bravery to open the scores for the 2011 champions.
Accam had not found the net for Helsingborg since bagging a brace in May in the win over title-holders Elfborg but inspired Helsingborg to the crucial win as they trudged up the ladder to second spot, just a point behind leaders Malmö FF and also have a game in hand.
The Borussia Dortmund and Arsenal-target says his prime objective is to help his side reclaim the league title they lost to Elfborg last season and has not targeted winning the Allsvenskan Golden Boot Award.
“It always feels great to score but most importantly its about team winning. I have not targeted the goal king title. I always say I want to improve and hopefully I will do just that,” he told Ghanasoccernet.com.
Monday’s goal marked his seventh of the season and he could score more as the Swedish season is just 15 games old.
He was invited for Ghana’s 2014 World Cup qualifier against Sudan in March but he was an unused substitute.
