Isaac Wallace: Made Of Music
Simply known as Wallace, Isaac Kofi Wallace is a total musician because he is a songwriter, arranger, composer, singer, instrumentalist and sound engineer/producer.
He has worked with a couple of musicians in Ghana and abroad such as Ofori Amponsa, Kwabena Kwabena, KK Fosu, Papa Flavour among others. He started playing drums at church when he was about eight with two of his brothers, Mike and Paul.
As a talented and versatile kid, Wallace was faced with the choice of taking to music or playing football or woodcarving.
After the first few years of playing some musical instruments he turned to football and woodcarving on the side.
At the completion of a diploma programme at MODESCO in Draftsmanship he abandoned football and turned to music once more, perfecting his handling of the guitar and playing for a number of churches and eventually settling with bands like The Marriot International Band, The Omanye Aba Band, The Black Beats among others.
By the time he joined Marriots he was playing drums, guitar, keyboards, bass and other instruments and singing as well.
Because he was able to play many instruments he easily turned to sound recording and so unsurprisingly one day when he was recording at Opera Square in Accra he performed so well that in the end he was engaged as a sound engineer.
Eventually, fate took him to a bigger and more popular studio at Dansoman, Accra.
He became more interested in sound engineering; an interest which brought him face to face with top Ghanaian singers at the time, Ofori Amponsa, KK Fosu and Kwabena Kwabena.
In spite of his busy schedule he came out with his own album in 2006 titled ‘Adam and Eve’ out of the many songs he had composed. His brother Mike who was helping him at the time with the promotion of that album had to leave the country in the middle of the project and that affected the presence of the album on the market. There are plans to re-launch the album with some other ones.
