Invest In Early Childhood Education For Quality Education
Government has been urged to invest more in early childhood education of pupils instead of concentrating only on secondary and tertiary education if only the country is indeed committed to improve the quality of education.
This was made known by Proprietress of Golden Child Preparatory School, Mrs. Phyllis Nyantakyi, at the school’s graduation ceremony in Koforidua.
According to her, more emphasis should be put on nursery, kindergarten and primary education as they prepare young children into secondary education.
Mrs. Nyantakyi said that has been the cause of fallen standards of performance of students in the country because most pupils are denied of quality basic education they need in order to excel in their education at the higher level.
“I think government needs to focus on nursery education since it is the basic fundamental to quality education,” she stated.
She also appealed to government and the Ghana Education Service to, as a matter of urgency, assist private schools with teaching and learning materials as their contribution to Ghana’s education cannot be over emphasised.
Mrs. Phyllis Nyantakyi however commended teachers and all staff of the school for their hard work towards the education of the school children. She was also optimistic management would do their best to improve the quality of education in the metropolis at all times.
The Principal of the school, Mr. Felix Tawiah, in his speech was grateful to the Parent’s Teacher Association (PTA) for their immense support over the years.
He assured that his outfit will do its best to make students are well taught to be able to face the task ahead of them as they prepare for higher educational standards.
