Idris Elba to produce and star in Uzodinma Iweala’s ‘Beast Of No Nation’

Idris Elba is set to star in the film adaptation of Uzodinma Iweala‘s best selling book, ‘Beast Of No Nation.’
Elba who bagged the coveted role as Nelson Mandela in the movie ‘Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom’, would be starring in a major role as a military commander in the up-coming flick, which he would also produce.
The film will be directed by Cary Fukunga, tells the story of Agu, a young boy caught in the middle of a civil war in an unnamed West African country. Having lost his father, mother and sister in the war, he joins the mercenary fighters unit, befriends a mute boy named Strika, and together they go through the ordeals of the war.
Author of the novel ‘Beast of No Nation‘, Uzodinma Iweala is the son of Nigeria’s Finance Minister Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala.
