IC Quaye Drags Bodyguard To Court
A GYM Instructor has been hauled before an Accra Circuit court for allegedly selling four plots of land belonging to Sheikh I.C.Quaye, a former Greater Regional Accra Minister.
The instructor, one Awudu Musah, who happened to be a former police officer and a bodyguard of I.C. Quaye, allegedly sold the four plots of land to one Doli-Wura Awushie Abdul-Malik Seidu Zakaria at a cost of GH¢60,000 without the authority of his boss.
Awudu yesterday appeared before the court, presided over by Ellen Amoah, with two brothers of the former minister, Mohammed Quaye, a businessman and Abdul Nassar Salifu, who out of anger caused damage to the fenced wall and a set of iron gates valued GH¢15,260 belonging to Doli-Wura.
The gym instructor was charged with fraudulent transaction while the other two were facing conspiracy to commit crime, causing unlawful damage and forcible entry. They pleaded not guilty and were admitted to bail to re-appear on September 4, 2013.
The prosecutor, DSP Abraham Annor, narrated that sometime in 2006; Hon. I.C.Quaye acquired five plots of land at Ogbojo from Nii Joseph Torgbor Obodai II, the chief of Ogbojo and instructed Awudu to prevent encroachers after giving him a plot as a gift.
Awudu allegedly sold his plot while taking care of the remaining four.
In December 2007, Awudu, the prosecutor disclosed, met the complainant and informed him that I.C.Quaye had instructed him to sell the four plots to any interested person.
Doli-Wura, the complainant, expressed interest in buying the land and Awudu led him to Nii Obodai II who confirmed his relationship with I.C.Quaye to the complainant.
The prosecutor stated that the complainant became convinced and purchased the land at a cost of GH¢60,000 by making full payment to Awudu.
Awudu then told Nii Obodai II that I.C.Quaye had instructed that documents be prepared for the complainant. Nii Obodai II prepared the document in the name of Doli-Wura.
After receiving the document, the complainant fenced the land and deposited materials and other valuables.
Doli-Wura further fixed two sets of iron gates under lock.
DSP Annor stated that the complainant had been in possession of the land until April 28, 2013 when the two brothers caused damages to portions of the fenced wall, removed the iron gates and forcibly entered the land.
However I.C.Quaye has denied having knowledge of the sale of land to the complainant.
