I Would Not Go Independent – Kofi Adams

“If I wanted to go independent, that would have been the first thing I would have done”.

These are words from spokesperson of the Rawlingses, Mr. Kofi Adams, refuting claims he intends to go independent following his disqualification from contesting in the Buem by-election on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

He said even though he is not happy with the decision which was made by the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the NDC, there are other avenues to address his case instead of going independent.

Speaking in an interview to Mr. Tweneboa Kodua (TK) on Peace FM’s flagship programme ‘Kokrokoo’, Mr. Kofi Adams said he would leave everything in the hands of God because he does not intend to bring disunity in the party (NDC) and indicated he would go to President John Dramani Mahama who is the leader of the party to inform him of what is going on and to seek his advice on what to do next.

“The President is the leader of the party and so I will seek counsel from him and inform him of what has gone on. There are many other leaders whom I can seek counsel from. I will not do anything that will harm the party or destroy the party…in all things I will give thanks to God; I give everything to God because all things work together for my good” he said.

Meanwhile, the General Secretary of the NDC, Johnson Asiedu Nketia popularly known as General Mosquito says not even President Mahama can help Kofi Adams in his quest to become a Member of Parliament (MP) for the Buem constituency.

Speaking to XYZ News, General Mosquito stated that it would be against the constitution of the party for the President to intervene and pardon Kofi Adams when he is yet to be been sentenced.

“Our constitution is clear; it doesn’t give Presidential pardon over a disciplinary matter so I don’t know whether the intention is to amend the constitution”, Asiedu Nketia said.
