A middle-aged woman was raped and subsequently killed by three Fulani herdsmen in Edo state.
The Nation reports that the woman was accosted by the suspects while returning from farm at Odighi village in Ovia North East Local Government alongside her 18-year-old son.
The son was said to have escaped while she was caught and raped to death.
The body of the victim whose identity is yet to be ascertained was recovered by policemen attached to Ekiadolor Divisional police headquarters after complaints were lodged by the villagers.
However, three herdsmen have been arrested by the Edo State Police Command in connection to the crime.
Public Relations officer (PPRO), Edo state police command, DSP, Noble Uwoh who confirmed the incident gave the names of the the three suspects as Mohammed, Isah and Yusuf.
Over the past months, there’s been reports of Fulani Herdsmen causing havoc in different parts of the country. In April, the Fulani herdsmen reportedly dressed in Army Uniform killed 77 people and injured several others in an attack in Taraba state.
In May, Fulani herdsmen raped a 15-year-old girl and two housewives in Benue state.
Just last week, precisely Thursday June 5, four persons were killed and 19 others injured during a clash between Gwari farmers and Fulani herdsmen in Paiko, near Gwagwalada in Abuja.
