Hon. Demordzi Organizes Health Screening For Constituents
The Member of Parliament for the Bortianor-Ngleshie Amanfro, Hon Bright Edward Kodzo Demordzi, in collaboration with the Ga South Health Directorate, the Ghana Health Service and the Greater Accra Regional branch of the Ghana Medical Association have organised a health screening exercise for residents in the constituency on the theme; “Prevention is Better Than Cure’’.
According to Hon Demordzi, the exercise was meant to fulfill his campaign promise of ensuring that his constituents are guaranteed good health at all times.
He encouraged residents within the Ga South Municipality to take advantage of the exercise to know their health status whiles urging them to go for constant checkups saying “prevention is better than cure’’.
Hon Demordzi hinted of plans to replicate similarly exercises throughout the constituency.
A team of medical doctors and other health professionals’ lead by the Greater Accra branch chairman of GMA, Dr Ernest Yorke screened resident for blood glucose, Body Mass Index, High Blood Pressure, body temperature among others.
According to Dr Yorke, the Medical Outreach and Screening programme especially by the Greater Accra GMA in the Ga South Municipality is the second in the series to compliment others efforts by government after the first in the La area.
He urged residents to ensure constant hand washing, avoid filth by ensuring proper disposal of garbage, and eat hot foods.
Dr Yorke also counsel residents to undergo complete health check at least once every year to stay healthy.
Various Drugs were dispensed to those diagnose with some disease conditions whiles others were referred for further treatment.
The team educated the residents on topics such as cholera, Ebola and how to ensure basic hygienic practices in their homes and the community to prevent avoidable diseases.
In a related development, an eye screening by a team of local and foreign medical officers by courtesy of the MP is currently ongoing in the Bortianor-Ngleshie Amanfro constituency to address the sight challenges of residents.
