Hearts Unveil Technical Team Headed By Herbert Addo

Hearts of Oak unveiled their newly-constituted technical team headed by Herbert Addo on Thursday with a strong conviction of ending their five-year trophy drought.

The ceremony, which took place at the premises of local television station Metro TV, also saw assistant coach Stephen Abugri, team manager Sabahn Quaye and goalkeepers’ trainer Eddie Ansah introduced to the media and fans.

Also, local Black Stars assistant coach Dauda Lutterodt was introduced as head coach for the club’s U17 side.

Addo is making a return to the club after his dismissal at the end of the 2003 season for failing to win the league despite unbeaten run.

Quaye is also making a return after quitting the capital club in 2009 following the departure of Serbian coach Kosta Papic.

He left and joined Liberty Professionals but resigned from his post last year.

Abugri was assistant coach of Medeama last season and previously worked as head coach King Faisal in the Premier League

Ex-international and national team goalkeepers’ trainer Ansah was last attached to South African side Black Leopards in the Premier Soccer League two seasons ago.

The club’s Executive board chairman Togbe Afede XIV believes the best has been assembled by the club.

“About the richness of the technical bench, it is evidence of where we want to take the Accra Hearts of Oak,” he said.

“As far as we are concerned, the sky is the limit. We know what the fans of Accra Hearts of Oak want. I want to assure that we want more than they want that is why I went for the best in the land.”

Hearts are seeking rapid improvement this term after a bittersweet campaign saw them finish third on the league table.

The Phobians also suffered early elimination in the MTN FA Cup after losing to second-tier side Gold Stars in the round of 16.
