Hearts’ title challenge suffers as they lose third-straight game

Hearts of Oak lost their third straight game on Wednesday to become third favourites for the Premier League title.

The Phobians lost 1-0 to Berekum Chelsea at the Golden City Park as it followed up defeats to Liberty Professionals and Heart of Lions in the previous weeks.

And the result leaves Mohammed Polo’s side in third-place and 13-points adrift leaders, Asante Kotoko with five matches to go.

A 13th minute goal in the first half by Bennett Ofori separated both sides as the Berekum side strolled to victory dents any hopes of a title charge by the Phobians.

At the Carl Reindorf Park, Liberty Professionals boosted their chances of slipping into the relegation ranks after a 1-0 victory over Ebusua Dwarfs.

Kennedy Ashia was on hand to hand Liberty all three points when he scored in the 49th minute.

The win puts Liberty three-points above relegation.
