Accra, Aug. 12, GNA – Dr Samuel Asiamah Takyi, Medical Director of Life Essentials Clinic in Accra, has called on Ministry of Health to put in place proper mechanisms to avert the Ebola virus.
He advised that any suspected Ebola case should be reported early, while the authorities should ensure that the country’s borders should are porous.
Dr Takyi, also a trained Herbalist gave the advice when he spoke to Ghana News Agency after the Clinic had opened its modern laboratory at Petroleum Estates at New Achimota, in Accra with the state-of-the-art equipment.
Touching on the recent outbreak of cholera in Accra Metropolis, he advised the public to maintain hygienic lifestyles and avoid coming into contact with faecal matter.
He underscored the need for people to take in warm foods and dispose of sewage properly.
Dr Takyi mentioned some of the equipment that would be used in the laboratory as automated blood analyser, ‘4D and 3D’ ultra-sound scan machines for abdominal and vascular scans, pelvic and prostate scans.
The rest are breast and pregnant scans, ultra-sonography and electro cardio gram machine for scanning of heart conditions.
Dr Takyi explained that the clinic is a US Model Naturopathic Clinic, which combines natural therapy and herbal remedy using herbs and modern technology to diagnose and treat diseases.
‘We will diagnose ailments like malaria, typhoid fever, ulcers, prostate disorders, strokes, high cholesterol levels, sexually transmitted diseases, piles, erectile dysfunction, respiratory tract infections and chronic diseases, like diabetes, hypertension and wounds,’ he said.
The Medical Director said with a competent workforce, the clinic would offer services including massaging of the general body, hand and foot, and deep tissue.
‘We will make provision of quality foreign and local food supplements while engaging nutritional specialists to guide clients on how to live healthy lifestyles,’ Dr Takyi said.
Mr Solomon Addae, a Nutritionist at the clinic urged the public to stick to healthy eating habits by taking a lot of fresh fruits and vegetables.
He however advised people with kidney problems to eschew the eating of bananas, mushroom and Moringa.
