GTUC introduces more higher degree programmes
Accra , Oct. 20, GNA – The Ghana Technology University College (GTUC) has introduced new Doctor of Philosophy and Masters’ degree programmes as part of its plans to satisfy intellectual needs of modern society.
Dr Osei Darkwa, President of the University College announced this on Saturday at the 13th matriculation ceremony to formally welcome 1,280 new students admitted into the University for the September/October intake.
He said five Doctor of Philosophy and four Masters’ degree programmes have been added to the existing ones pursued by the matriculating class in Engineering, Informatics and Business Information Technology.
Doctor of Philosophy programmes include Business Administration, Healthcare Management, Information Communication Management, Information Communication Technology and a Doctor of Business Administration.
Newly introduced graduate programmes are Master of Arts in Education (Educational Leadership); Master’s in Business Administration, Healthcare Management and International Trade.
Dr Darkwa said the increasing demand for GTUC programmes and courses call for more investment and aid to provide sufficient infrastructure and to introduce innovative programmes and projects.
He advised the matriculates to work hard towards the pursuit of academic knowledge required for the social and economic transformation of the nation.
He said the students were entering the university at a time a new wealth in the form of oil had emerged and at a time the sub-region was still confronted with serious political crisis while globalisation defines the market for labour, capital and goods and services.
The developments demand training of new crop of leaders with rational thinking needed to define the collective vision for the nation, he said.
