American-born Ghanaian youngster Joseph-Claude Agyeman Gyau broke into the TSG Hoffenheim first team squad for the third time this season when they thrashed relegated Eintracht Braunschweig 3-1 on the final day of the Bundesliga.

The 21-year-old gifted winger gatecrashed Markus Gisdol’s 18-man squad and warmed the bench in the entire duration of the match as rounded up their season with a convincing win over Braunschweig who had German-born Ghanaian Karim Bellarabi in their folds.

Sebastien Rudy, Roberto Firmino and Kevin Volland scored in either halves to hand Hoffenheim their 11th victory of the season and finish 9th on the log, completely missing out on a Europa League spot.

Gyau came short of consist appearances in the Bundesliga for Hoffenheim but in the Regionalliga, he was in terrific shape on the flanks. He bagged 7 goals in 26 outings and is likely to favourably compete for a regular first team role next term.

Though he did not play on Saturday, he had already tasted action in the German top-flight – coming off the bench to play cameo roles in the 3-2 defeat against Borussia Dortmund and Eintracht Frankfurt in the second round of the season.

Gyau’s father, a former MSL star and grandfather, a former Ghana international earning his name with the Black Stars in the 1960s, the youngster has represented the United States (Ghana’s group opponents at the 2014 World Cup) at youth level, playing at the U17 and U20 stages for the Americans.
