Ghana League Clubs Association secures court injunction to stop Black Stars farewell match
The Ghana League Clubs Association has threatened to place an injunction on Friday’s historic farewell match for the Black Stars at the Accra Sports Stadium.
The senior national team preparing for the 2014 FIFA World Cup finals are billed to play local select side (mostly comprising players from the Ghana Premier League.)
GHALCA is demanding for a meeting with organizers Primeval Consult to know the financial details of the match.
The umbrella body for Ghanaian clubs is asking for an insurance package and allowances for all local players selected for the match.
GHALCA is advocating for a percentage share of the gate proceeds for clubs whose players would feature in tomorrow’s game.
‘We have just secured an injunction from court and will serve them if they fail to compromise,’ GHALCA chairman Alhaji Ali Raji told the Daily Graphic in an exclusive interview
‘We can’t be doing things as usual; it must change from now.
‘The organisers have been ignoring all invitations to discuss the concerns of GHALCA and its members.
‘This is purely a business venture and must be seen as such and they have me to resort to as the last resort.’
However, the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has sanctioned this match.
