General Blay Education Scholarship Scheme assists needy students
Nawule (W/R) Oct. 8, GNA – The General Blay ‘Educational Scholarship Scheme’ has within its establishment three years ago sponsored 21 needy but brilliant students from the three Nzema districts to acquire Senior Secondary School Education.
The founder of the scheme, Lt-Gen Peter Augustine Blay, a former Chief of Defence Staff, made this known at the re-launch of the Scheme at Nawule near Half Assini in the Jomoro district on Sunday.
The districts are Jomoro, Ellembele and Nzema East.
General Blay said the Scheme had disbursed 50,000 Ghana cedis and that it would be extended to cover students in tertiary institution when its financial position improves.
He appealed individuals, philanthropists and corporate bodies to contribute to the Scheme to help promote education in the districts.
An appealed for fund to support the scheme yielded 201,000 Ghana cedis including pledges.
