The Galaxy International School in Accra has launched its annual scholarship package for schoolchildren across the country.
The scholarship scheme, which is a social responsibility programme of the school, is organised yearly to admit students from both public and private institutions to enjoy the international secondary educational package that Galaxy gives to students.
According to the Principal in charge of the Secondary Department, Mr Sverkt Cikmaz, last year over 500 students from across the country applied for the scholarship, out of which 100 were selected to go through rigorous tests, after which 20 students were selected.
Mr Cikmaz explained that the scholarship package was open to students in junior high school Form Three who were getting prepared to enter senior high school.
“As part of the selection procedure, interested students will be made to write an examination in various subjects such as English Language, Mathematics and Integrated Science,” he said.
He stated that application forms could be obtained from the school and that this year’s scholarship examination would take place on Saturday, May 31, 2014.
“This year, successful students will be given laptops, PC tablets, educational materials and certificates of merit on admission,” he added.
During the launch, some students who excelled last year were presented with laptops and PC tablets to aid them in their research work and Information and Communications Technology (ICT) studies.
