YAOUNDE (AFP) – France’s Veteran Affairs Minister Kader Arif on Thursday withdrew a previous statement that a French family seized in the north of Cameroon this week had been freed.
“There was information related by the press. There is no official confirmation at this stage,” Arif told parliament. A Cameroonian minister also denied Thursday a claim by a military source in Cameroon that the family had been freed.
