Freda Prempeh Calls For Effective Work
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament (MP) for Tano North in the Brong Ahafo region, Freda Prempeh has called on the party’s members to effectively work at the polling stations to ensure that the party wins convincingly in the 2016 general elections.
According to her, elections are won or lost at the polling stations, which means that attention must be focused on the polling stations for all-year round work.
The Tano North MP, who is the only female legislator in the Brong Ahafo region, indicated that the capacity of the polling stations executive members must be enhanced to ensure that they do effective campaign at the grassroots level.
‘I have already started building the capacity of my polling stations officials to win more votes for the party in the 2016 general elections,’ she said.
Hon Freda Prempeh disclosed this to DAILY GUIDE recently when party members from Brong Ahafo region visited the residence of Nana Akufo-Addo, the party’s flagbearer for the 2012 elections to commend him for his good leadership.
She conceded that the NPP did not do so well in the Brong Ahafo Region, stressing that this time round they are going to work very hard to win most seats for the party.
‘I concede that our general performance in the region was a bit disappointing but we have a chance now to work very hard and win over the region,’ she said
She said that it is important for MPs in the region to adopt ‘orphaned’ constituencies so that they could collaborate with officials in those constituencies and help them to win those constituencies for the party.
‘Despite the fact that the difference between presidential votes of our party and that of the ruling party was not huge, we have got a lot of work to do to win the 2016 general elections because the National Democratic Congress (NDC) as the incumbent government will not give up easily.’
She asked 2012 flagbearer of the party, Nana Akufo-Addo, to consider leading the party again because he had already marketed and distinguished himself as patriotic citizen who has the development of the country at heart.
‘We, the party members of Tano North constituency, want to appeal to Nana Akufo-Addo to lead the party again because his chances are bright,’ she noted.
