The former minister, who spoke briefly to Graphic On-line at the lobby of the Mercure Hotel in Brasilia, where he had lodged the previous night, said he was hurrying to catch the plane in Natal, where he would be joining others for the homeward journey.

Asked about the new development back home in respect of his reassignment to the Office of the President at Flagstaff House, Mr Afriyie Ankrah said he was getting home first before he could make any comment.

The apparently hardworking Sports Minister was instrumental in getting various Ghanaian fan groups sponsored by interested companies to support the Black Stars in Brazil, with the last group arriving late last Thursday in Brasilia where they even missed Ghana’s last group match against Portugal.

The Stars failed to make an entry into the second round of the tournament for the first time in three World Cups after players’ agitation over being paid cash their appearance fees due them, undermined their efforts.

Ghana placed a historic last in the group matches, losing each to the USA and Portugal and drawing against Germany to exit the tournament with a single point.
