An Egyptian FA board meeting ended abruptly on Thursday as two board members clashed over who is to take full responsibility for their team’s trip to Ghana for the 2014 World Cup playoff.
Board members Hassan Farid and Saif Zaher went at each other during the meeting to decide on plans for the final training phase for the Pharaohs ahead of their October 15 date with the Black Stars.
Zaher stormed out of the meeting after heated exchanges with Farid over which of the two was to take full charge of the team for their trip to Ghana on October 11.
Zaher was demanding the right to lead the Pharaohs team to Ghana while Farid claimed he has been the one in charge of the team for over a year now and should be made to continue in his role.
The main agenda for the meeting – which was to review several recommendations for the team for the World Cup playoff – had to be shelved over the confusion.
Egypt until now have impressed with their organisation towards the game against Ghana in Kumasi.
The turbulent meeting on Thursday however threatens to undo all the weeks of hard work done by the Egyptian FA.
The meeting was also to review recommendations of Egypt’s camping and training base while in Ghana presented by their three-man inspection team to Ghana.
The delegation led by assistant coach in charge of goalkeepers Zaki Abdel Fattah had selected Noda Hotel and the Paa Joe Park as the residential and training base for the Pharaohs while in Ghana.
The meeting is expected to be reconvened on Friday to key decisions on their trip to Ghana.
