Ellembelle MP Awards Scholarship To 2 Students
Member of Parliament(MP) for Ellembelle,Mr.Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, has reiterated his avowed commitment to push development in his area through the pursuit of higher education.
He therefore appealed to students in the area to pursue higher education and take advantage of emerging opportunities in the oil and gas industry.
Mr. Buah who doubles as the Minister for Energy and Petroleum Resources,told the Ghana News Agency on the sidelines when he presented a scholarship package to 2 underprivileged students in the District.
Beneficiary students are master Frank Azane,an orphan and a resident of Aiyinasi who clocked aggregate 8 in the WASSCE last year and Miss Scholarstica Akasi Anyimiah,an-8-year old deaf girl from Awiebo.
Mr. Buah said Frank who scored B3 in Core English and A in all other subjects, could not continue with his education last year due to financial constraint and decided to approach his office for assistance.
The MP said he was touched by the sterling performance of the student and has paid GHC1,500 as admission fees to enrol him at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Techonology this semester to pursue an undergraduate course in Geological Engineering as part of the technical manpower to feed the oil and gas industry.
Scholarstica has also been enrolled at the Sekondi School for the Deaf after the MP had paid an admission fee of GHC500.
Mr. Buah placed on record that his office will be visiting the small girl at the school monthly to cater for her needs until she completes the course.
He further pledged his readiness to improve the living conditions of his constituents as part of the Better Ghana Agenda.
