Egypt: Former Member of Parliament Fareed Ismail Arrested
Egyptian authorities in Sharqiya have arrested former Member of Parliament Fareed Ismail, who is also a senior member in the Muslim Brotherhood’s Freedom and Justice Party.
Sources told Aswat Masriya that security forces arrested Ismail from his Zaqazeeq residence on Sunday.
It is not clear yet what charges Ismail is facing.
Security forces have arrested tens of Brotherhood members, including the group’s supreme guide Mohamed Badie, since the state began a crackdown on supporters of President Mohamed Mursi who was ousted by the army in July.
