Heracles Almelo have bode Ghana striker Mathew Amoah farewell as he leaves the club this summer.

The 33-year-old was restricted to just four starts in the just ended Eredivisie campaign with injuries taking its toll.

He however made a vital contribution in helping the side retain its top flight status by scoring in the dying minutes in one of the late away matches against NEC.

Amoah will be leaving the club this summer as a free agent after being told he will not be offered a new contract.

Heracles’ director Nico-Jan Hoogma has paid glowing tributes to the Ghana striker but admits the excessive injuries diluted Amoah’s impact on the team.

‘This season, did not become what we had hoped for partly due to the injuries to Matthew [Amoah],’ admits director Nico-Jan Hoogma.

‘Although Matthew obviously been very important with his winning goal in the last minute at NEC. Through this goal, we made a big step towards safety.

‘We wish him every success in the future.’
Amoah has struggled to regain his form that once made him a deadly finisher in the Dutch top flight since his big money move to German club Borussia Dortmund in 2006.

He has since played for NAC Breda, Mersin Idmanyurdu and Heerenveen.
