Driver arrested for beating wife to death
The police at Offinso have arrested a 32-year-old driver at Sampraso near Offinso in the Ashanti Region, for allegedly beating his wife to death.
In a fit of rage, the suspect, Samuel Yaw Badu, was said to have pounced on his wife, Georgina Kete, 34, over a misunderstanding that arose between them leading to her death.
A police source at Offinso that briefed the Daily Graphic on the incident yesterday, would however, not give details about the said misunderstanding saying ‘We are yet to establish the full facts of the matter.’
It, however, said that the incident happened at about 11.20pm, last Sunday.
On that fateful night, Badu, who had returned from work, engaged the wife in a heated argument.
In the course of the misunderstanding, the man charged on Georgina and beat her mercilessly.
The woman collapsed and was rushed to the St Patrick’s Hospital at Maase, near Offinso where she was pronounced dead on arrival.
A report was made to the police leading to the arrest of Badu, who is in police custody.
The source said the suspect would be arraigned at Offinso tomorrow on a preliminary charge of murder.
Meanwhile, the body of the deceased had been placed in the morgue at the Hospital, pending autopsy.
