Don’t Compare Ghana’s Music Industry To Nigeria’s—Gemini
The combination of Nigerian and Ghanaian music industries have grown to become a force to reckon with in Africa and as such, many who try to compare both find it hard to do so but the few who do so usually put the former ahead of the latter due to a number of reasons.
2131records signee, Gemini has urged all who keep comparing Ghanaian and Nigerian music to put a stop to it saying the two are doing well to promote the African continent and that was enough. Gemini stated on Monday’s edition of ‘Brunch To Launch’ hosted by Bra Chef on Radio Univers 105.7 that “Ghana and Nigeria are two different places.
Naija has a bigger market, bigger economy, and bigger listenership. You know, everything there is different. When you come to Ghana too, it’s the opposite so you can’t really compare the two. The proportion don’t really match”.
The ‘Don’t Do’ hitmaker further said “at the end of the day we are all representing Africa, West Africa to be precised. I think together we are making a force to reckon with because when you take African music, we are among the top 3. You mention South Africa, Nigeria and Ghana”.
Gemini who denied the perception that Nigerian music is doing well compared to Ghana’s added they are making a bigger impact because of their population.
“If Ghanaians were that many, patronage would be high. It’s not like Ghanaians have made Nigerian music big, it’s the Nigerians who have made their own music big because they are many.”
